A series of intimate short films starring Paralympic Winter athletes

The Australian Cinematographers Society presents a Silver award for cinematography to the "Extraordinary People" campaign. Produced for Toyota ahead of the Paralympic Games and broadcast during the 7 Network Olympic coverage.

The campaign featured two Australian winter athletes, Joany Badenhorst and Mitch Gourley.

Joany was filmed over 3 days at Perisher Resort before the mountain was open to the public so that we could get exclusive use of the freshly groomed snow. Joany had to allow a 30kg camera to track inches from her doing upwards of 80kph downhill.

Mitch was filmed over 2 days at Thredbo Alpine Resort in between Mitch's training schedule with coach and Australian Alpine Olympian Craig Branch, before 1 day at his home in Melbourne. The crew size was minimal with principal photography taking place at sunrise so as not to interrupt Thredbo Resort's daily operations and guest experience.

Tracking cinematography was handheld at up to 480 frames per second by Timothy Myers ACS using a Sony PMW-F5 with Zeiss CP.2 Superspeeds (15mm, 35mm, 85mm) recording in 16-bit sLog2.

The colour grade was completed in Kansas by Taylre Jones.
